Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 fish fillets (matjes)
  • 250 ml milk
  • 125 ml cream
  • ½ jar mayonnaise
  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • Allspice
  • 3 onions
  • 3 apples

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Total time approx. 1 day 20 minutes

Marinate the herring fillets in milk for about 1 hour. Mix together the cream, mayonnaise, and yogurt, and season with allspice. Slice the onions into rings. Peel and core the apples, and cut them into thin strips. Add them to the sauce along with the sliced ​​herring fillets. Mix everything carefully and let it marinate for at least 1 day.
