Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 1 package of matjes fillet(s), marinated in oil
- 3 large onions
- 2 m.-large apples, sour
- some peppercorns, black
- 500 ml buttermilk

simple and very inexpensive option
Empty the matjes from the package into a sieve and rinse off any oil under running water (as thoroughly as possible). Then place the matjes fillets in a bowl. Slice the onions and the peeled apples into pieces, and add them to the matjes. Add the peppercorns and pour over the buttermilk. Refrigerate for about 24 hours. Then enjoy with boiled potatoes. This dish also tastes great with fresh matjes.
