Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 4 fish fillets (matjes fillet)
  • 75 g mayonnaise, 50%
  • 100 g sour cream
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Sugar
  • Allspice
  • 1 apple, red
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 2 gherkins

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Cut the herring fillets into even, not too small, strips. Mix the mayonnaise and sour cream, and season with the spices. Core the washed apple and slice it thinly, leaving it unpeeled. Cut the onion into thin rings and the cucumber into thin slices. Carefully mix all the ingredients together and season to taste. Serve the next day with new potatoes or brown bread. Allspice is essential; it rounds out the flavor beautifully and gives the salad a special touch.
