Meatball in Onion Sauce
The perfect meatball in onion sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

- 500 g Mett
- 50 g Breadcrumbs
- 2 Pc. Eggs
- 20 g Freshly chopped chives
- 20 g Mustard
- Salt pepper
- Flour
- 50 g Back fat
- 300 g Onions
- 1 Pc. Clove of garlic

- 800 g Potatoes
- 800 g Brussels sprouts
- 30 g Butter
- 10 g Flour
- 250 ml Milk
- Salt, pepper, nutmeg (grated)
- Water
- Mix the meat, breadcrumbs, eggs, chives and mustard into a mass. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cut the bacon into cubes and leave in a high pan.

- When the taste is right, shape meatballs about 150g – 160g, flour them and fry them in the pan.
- Dice the onions and garlic and add to the pan. Let these become golden brown, season with salt and pepper and pour over 600 ml of water. Reduce the whole thing by about a third to a half.
- Meanwhile, cook the potatoes and Brussels sprouts each in a pot of salted water.
- When the Brussels sprouts are done, drain them through a sieve and set aside for a moment.
- Melt the butter in the saucepan. Mix 250 ml milk with 10 g flour and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Add the milk mixture to the butter and bring to the boil while stirring constantly, then add the Brussels sprouts again and do not let them boil anymore.
- Thicken the onion sauce with a little flour dissolved in cold water and season to taste again.
