American meatball sandwich

For the meatballs, finely chop the onion, garlic cloves, and parsley. Season the minced meat with salt, pepper, and oregano, then add the onion, two-thirds of the garlic, and half the parsley, and mix well with the egg and breadcrumbs. Form into small meatballs, roughly the size of meatballs. Sprinkle with some Parmesan or Grana Padano cheese. Bake in the oven at 220°C (top/bottom heat) for 30 minutes, preferably on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, on the middle rack. For the sauce, spread the olive oil evenly in the pan and heat. Sauté the remaining finely chopped garlic, then add the pasta sauce or tomato puree. Add some chopped parsley and simmer over low to medium heat. When the meatballs are cooked through, it’s best to cut one open to check, add it to the sauce, and bring both to a boil briefly. Bake the ciabatta, cut it in half, and cut it crosswise. Remove some of the crumb from the bottom to create a bed for the meatballs. Place the finished meatballs and the sauce on the bread. If you like even more cheese, you can always sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on the warm sub.
