  • 1 melon(s) (Galia or Ogen melon approx. 800 g
  • 150 g white rock sugar
  • ½ liter of grappa
  • 1 lime(s), untreated, thinly peeled peel
  • 2 carnations

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

quick to make, but needs time to mature

Halve the melon and remove the seeds. Cut into quarters or eighths, peel, and chop into large pieces. Place the melon pieces in a large, clean, lidded jar, along with the rock sugar, cloves, and lime zest. Pour in the grappa and let it sit for 4-6 weeks. Shake the jar frequently. Once the sugar has dissolved, filter the liqueur and let it sit for at least another 6 weeks to allow the aromas to diffuse. Then, if necessary, filter again through cheesecloth. Depending on the melon, the liqueur will be quite sweet. If it’s not sweet enough with the specified sugar content, you can add a little more sugar solution after filtering.
