Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 800 g honeydew melon(s) or cantaloupe or netted melon
  • half a tonka bean(s) or vanilla pod
  • 700 ml alcohol, 96%
  • 400 g sugar
  • 2 liters of water

Instructions

Cut the melon into small cubes and place them in a tightly sealed jar with the tonka bean or vanilla pod. Pour the alcohol over it and let it steep for about three weeks. Shake occasionally during this time. Pour the liquid into a large container. Place the melon pieces in a tea towel or similar and squeeze thoroughly; puree first if necessary. Filter the collected liquid and add it to the alcohol. Briefly boil the water with the sugar and tonka bean, let it cool, and then add it to the mixture. Let it ripen for about two more weeks and then bottle. The amount of sugar depends on your taste and the sweetness of the melon.
