Crushed chocolate melts better
- The smaller the pieces of chocolate, the more evenly they will melt.
- If you have a bar of chocolate, smack it several times on the edge of the worktop or tabletop. This is how you get chocolate pieces quickly and without much effort.
- Of course, you can also use a knife or food processor to chop the chocolate.
Melt chocolate in the microwave
- Place the pieces in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Set your microwave to the lowest setting possible.
- Note that light chocolate contains more milk and therefore burns faster than dark chocolate.
- Start with 15-20 second intervals. The short intervals prevent the chocolate from burning or curdling.
- Take out the chocolate and stir the mixture through.
- Repeat these two steps until all of the chocolate has melted.
- For 100 g of chocolate, the melting process takes about 2 minutes.
- If the chocolate does curdle, add a few teaspoons of melted butter while it is still hot. Then stir quickly with a whisk. In this way, something can usually be salvaged.
