Mettwurst – Sauerkraut – Croissants

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 50 g sausage (Mettwurst), fine
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 small onion(s)
  • 100 g sauerkraut
  • 1 small apple
  • 1 package of croissant dough, from the refrigerated section
  • Paprika powder, hot
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • some egg white for brushing
  • e.g. oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Finely dice the sausage and fry briefly in oil. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until translucent. Then stir in the shredded sauerkraut and the unpeeled, finely grated apple. Simmer for about 15 minutes, then season with spices and let cool. Meanwhile, remove the croissant dough from the package according to the instructions. Place the triangles so that the point is in the center. Place a teaspoon of sauerkraut mixture on each wide end of the dough, brush the edges with egg white, roll up towards the point, and shape into croissants. Deep-fry in hot oil at 170°C for about 5 minutes. Drain and serve hot.
