Millet porridge with fruit according to TCM

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 800 ml plant milk (plant-based drink), e.g. rice milk, almond milk, oat milk…
  • 25 g syrup (date syrup), organic
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Cinnamon powder
  • n. B. Fruit of your choice
  • 180 g millet, organic
  • ½ vanilla pod(s), including the pulp

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Recipe according to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)

Bring the plant milk to a boil with the date syrup and a pinch of salt. Rinse the millet in cold water and add it to the pot with the scraped vanilla seeds. Simmer for 25 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from the heat. Let it swell for another 15 minutes. Serve in portions, sprinkle with cinnamon, and arrange the fruit pieces on top. If preparing with a Thermomix, place the plant milk, date syrup, and salt in the mixing bowl and heat with the lid on for 8 minutes at 100°C on speed 1. Add the rinsed millet to the mixing bowl, then cook uncovered for 25 minutes at 90°C on speed 1, reverse. Transfer to a container and let swell. Add the cinnamon, fruit, and peppermint leaves.
