Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg minced pork or Thuringian Mett
  • 1 head of white cabbage, about 1 kilo
  • 1 large can of sauerkraut
  • 3 onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ liter meat broth, vegetable broth also works
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder
  • nutmeg
  • cumin
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Fry the roughly diced onions and garlic in olive oil in a pan. Add the minced meat and fry until crumbly, then stir in the tomato paste and all the spices and fry briefly. Add the not too finely chopped white cabbage and let it simmer for about 30 minutes. In the meantime, put the sauerkraut in a casserole dish. Stir the braised minced meat and white cabbage into the sauerkraut and pour in the meat broth. Put the lid on the pot and let the minced meat and cabbage pan simmer in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Finally, stir in the sour cream and let the dish simmer briefly again. Caraway bread, baguette or boiled potatoes go well with this.
