Mint iced tea

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 ½ liters of water
  • 2 tea bags, black, classic
  • 2 bags of peppermint tea
  • 5 tbsp, heaped sugar
  • 1 lime(s)
  • 1 lemon(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

quick to make, needs some time to cool down

Place the sugar and water in a saucepan with a lid. Bring the water to a boil and dissolve the sugar by stirring occasionally. When the water is boiling and the sugar is dissolved, turn off the heat. Hang all four tea bags in the pan and replace the lid. Let the tea steep for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, squeeze the lime and lemon and combine the juices. (If you’re not drinking the tea the same day, squeeze a little more lemon and lime juice and strain all the juice through a fine sieve. Otherwise, the tea will lose its flavor more quickly.) After 5 minutes, remove the tea bags from the pan and squeeze vigorously. Stir the lime and lemon juice into the tea. Pour the drink into glass bottles and let it cool, then refrigerate thoroughly. Serve with ice cubes. Tip: I used the “Classic” black tea from a well-known tea manufacturer. I buy peppermint tea at the pharmacy because it has a particularly minty flavor.
