Ingredients for 6 servings:
- 1 kg minced beef, minced with 125 g fresh beef tallow
- 2 tsp garlic, finely chopped
- ½ tsp all-spice
- ¼ tsp clove(s), ground
- ¼ tsp thyme, crushed
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp black pepper, freshly ground
- 125 ml beef broth
- Oil (sunflower oil)

The Romanian version of the famous Cevapcici
In a bowl, mix the ground meat, garlic, and spices thoroughly. Add the stock and stir with a wooden spoon until smooth and fluffy, then season to taste. Divide the mixture into 18 equal portions and, with wet hands, form into sausages 3 cm in diameter and 8 cm long. Preheat an electric grill. Oil the grill grate and grill the sausages about 7 cm from the grill bars for 8-10 minutes, turning frequently until browned and crispy all over. Mititei are traditionally served with peppers in oil and pickled dill. Mititei can also be grilled on a charcoal grill.
