According to the expert, chia seeds, which are especially popular among adherents of a healthy lifestyle, have a serious impact on the cardiovascular system.

“Chia seeds affect blood pressure. The fatty acids in the seeds help to reduce blood cholesterol levels, which is a good prevention of atherosclerosis. By cleansing the walls of blood vessels from atherosclerotic plaques, the seeds prevent diseases of the cardiovascular system. They contain a large amount of magnesium and potassium, which affect blood pressure,” said Chuntonova.

The nutritionist also added that due to these properties, chia seeds are recommended to be added to the diet of hypertensive patients. However, they should not be consumed at low blood pressure, so as not to provoke an even greater decrease in blood pressure.
