Chia – the power seed
Even primitive peoples such as the Mayas, Indians, and Aztecs used chia seeds as a remedy, while it has only become really popular with us in recent years.
- There are two types of chia, Californian and Mexican. What both plant species have in common is that they belong to the mint family.
- The chia seed is celebrated as a power food because it is rich in antioxidants, magnesium, omega 3, protein, and calcium, among other things.
- In addition, the seeds are said to have health-promoting effects. For example, the risk of a heart attack or stroke is said to be significantly reduced through regular consumption of chia seeds.
Grind chia seeds – that’s how it works
- With a high-performance blender, the chia seeds can usually be ground well.
- If you have a coffee grinder with a percussion machine, this is also a way of crushing the chia seeds.
- The seeds can also be ground in a food processor.
- You can also use a blender to grind the seeds.
- Note: However, you should not use a grain mill for the chia seeds, as the oil could clog the grinder.
