Oatmeal meatballs

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 egg(s)
  • 250 g quark
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 150 g oat flakes, fine
  • 1 garlic clove(s), more to taste
  • salt and pepper
  • Spice(s), to taste, see recipe description
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 12 minutes; Total time approx. 22 minutes

quick preparation, for about 6 meatballs

Whisk the egg with the quark and the spices, then stir in the oats and finely diced onion. The mixture should still stick to your fingers. Form into balls, then flatten slightly to form meatballs. Fry in a pan with plenty of oil over medium heat for about 2 minutes on each side. Shake the pan occasionally to prevent them from sticking. Then fry for another 4 minutes on each side over lower heat. The meatballs should be golden brown on the outside and tender but not mushy on the inside. Spices: I tend to forgo salt and reach for the oriental spice rack and use spices such as coriander, cumin, turmeric, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, curry, chili, and dill.
