Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 1 tsp, levelled sugar
  • 1 tsp, leveled salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 60 g butter (or vegetable cream)
  • 750 g onion(s)
  • pepper
  • possibly caraway
  • 100 g bacon, streaky
  • 150 g cheese (old Gouda or Emmental)
  • ⅛ liter cream
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • Butter, for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Mix flour, yeast, sugar, milk, 1 egg, salt, and butter into a smooth dough and let it rise (shake the yeast with the salt in a shaker until liquid). Meanwhile, peel the onions and slice them into thin rings. Sauté them in the butter until translucent. Roll out the dough on a buttered or parchment-lined baking sheet. Let the cake rise for 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 50°C. Spread the cooled onions on top. Season with pepper and caraway seeds. Finely dice the bacon and spread it on the onions. Sprinkle with freshly grated cheese, whisk the egg and cream, and pour over the dough. Bake at 200°C for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
