Onion cake with buttermilk batter

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 4 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 125 ml buttermilk
  • 200 g flour
  • 3 tsp, leveled baking powder
  • 200 g bacon cubes
  • 2 large onions
  • 200 g cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp sour cream

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Whisk the oil and buttermilk thoroughly, then knead with the flour and baking powder. Cover the dough and let it rest for about 20 minutes. Spread the dough very thinly on a baking sheet. Gently press it out with your hands; it will be very sticky. Dice the onions and mix with the remaining ingredients. Do not use any spices! Spread evenly over the dough. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 30 minutes.
