Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 large onions
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 300 ml meat broth
  • 150 ml red wine
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 pinch of garlic powder
  • 1 dash of cream

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 50 minutes

quick and easy

Peel the onions, halve them, and slice them into thin rings. Sauté them in the butter until they begin to brown. Then stir in the flour thoroughly and, as soon as it starts to brown, add the tomato paste. Continue to simmer for a while, stirring constantly. Be careful: it burns easily! Deglaze with the red wine. Add the stock and spices and let everything simmer slightly. Season again with spices, if desired, and add a little cream at the end.
