Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 bunch of spring onions
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 100 g cheese (Emmental), grated
  • 2 tbsp crème fraîche
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt
  • Pepper, freshly ground
  • 4 slice(s) bread(s) (whole grain rye)

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

spicy toast with spring onions and Emmental cheese

Preheat oven to 220°C (200°C fan-assisted). Trim, wash, and slice the spring onions. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onions, stirring, for about 5 minutes until softened. Mix the cheese, crème fraîche, and lemon juice, and season generously with salt and pepper. Toast the bread, then arrange the onions on top and cover with the cheese mixture. Place the slices on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, until lightly browned.
