Orange Chicken

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g chicken breast
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 g flour
  • 50 g corn flour
  • 2 small onions
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 250 g orange marmalade
  • 2 tbsp teriyaki sauce
  • 3 tsp sambal oelek
  • some cayenne pepper
  • some paprika powder
  • some chili powder
  • some salt and pepper
  • 1 ½ liters of frying oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Orange chicken

Cut the chicken into cubes. For the batter, mix the flour with cornflour, cayenne pepper, paprika, and chili powder. Mix the eggs with the flour. For the sauce, grate the onions and garlic. Mix the orange marmalade, teriyaki sauce, and sambal oelek with the grated onions and garlic, and season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Heat the oil in a saucepan. Dip the chicken cubes in the batter and fry for 5-6 minutes. Drain and fry for a second time for another 3-5 minutes. Heat the sauce in a pan and let it reduce slightly. Transfer the fried pieces to a bowl and coat generously with the sauce.
