Brazilian method of making Caipirinha

Trim the ends of the limes (they’re bitter). Use unsprayed limes or wash the peel thoroughly with hot water and soap, then rinse off the soap thoroughly. Add 2 slightly heaped teaspoons of sugar to the glass. Sprinkle 1/2 to 1 quartered lime on top. Carefully squeeze the limes with a wooden muddler—do not crush the peels! Stir to dissolve the sugar in the lemon juice. Fill the glass with ice cubes or crushed ice—the strength is controlled by the amount of ice. Now fill the glass with the best, purest-tasting Cachaca Artesanal (approx. 2-4 cl). Stir, and you’re done! Tips: Choose limes with fine, shiny peel—organic limes are best: not only are the pesticides unhealthy, they also negatively affect the flavor. Trim the bitter ends (flower, stem) of the limes. If desired, add a little lime syrup. There are no sugar crystals in a good Caipirinha.
