Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced meat (beef or lamb)
  • 1 stale roll
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 handful of apricot(s), figs or dates, dried
  • 3 tbsp almonds, chopped
  • 1 bunch parsley, flat
  • 1 onion(s), diced
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp mustard, hot
  • Salt
  • Cinnamon, ground
  • Nutmeg, ground
  • Cumin, ground
  • Coriander, ground
  • Pepper, ground
  • olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Soak the bread roll in water. When it’s fully saturated, remove it from the water and squeeze it until it’s just slightly moist. Pluck the parsley leaves and finely chop them. Peel and finely dice the onion. Finely chop the apricots (or dates or figs). Peel, finely chop, or press the garlic. Mix all ingredients – except the olive oil – together in a bowl and knead into a meat dough. Season with spices to taste. Form the meat dough into meatballs or patties and fry them in a pan with heated olive oil over medium heat. A quick tip: Coriander and cumin should definitely be used for that oriental flavor. Be careful with the cumin, though, as it has a very strong flavor. The cinnamon gives the dish an incomparable aroma, while you can leave out the nutmeg if you don’t like the taste.
