Oriental sesame balls

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 750 g minced beef
  • 4 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 5 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 ginger root, walnut-sized, chopped
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sambal oelek
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tsp oil (sesame oil)
  • 250 g Turkish yogurt
  • ½ cucumber(s)
  • ½ bunch parsley, flat
  • 3 sprigs of mint, fresh
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 50 minutes

Knead the first 7 ingredients together (3 of the 5 garlic cloves). The soy sauce and sambal are usually salty enough, so you don’t need to add any more salt. If you don’t like it spicy and omit the sambal, you’ll probably need to add a little more salt. Form the minced meat into small balls (3 cm in diameter) and fry in neutral oil. Peel the cucumber and remove the seeds, then grate it coarsely. Chop the herbs, stir them into the yogurt along with the cucumber and the 2 remaining garlic cloves, and season sparingly with salt and pepper. Serve with flatbread from a Turkish shop!
