Oven-baked shashlik-style chops

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 pork chops
  • 2 onions
  • 400 ml tomatoes, pureed
  • 200 ml vegetable stock
  • 1 tbsp oregano, dried
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • some salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Peel the onions and slice into coarse rings. Pat the chops dry and season with salt and pepper. Mix the passata with the vegetable broth to make a sauce and season with oregano, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Spread the onions evenly in a baking dish, then place the chops on top and pour the sauce over everything. Braise everything in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for about an hour. Arrange on plates and serve with baguette or rice.
