simple and delicious
Wash the apples, twist or push out the stems, and insert a wooden skewer into each one. Don’t pierce the skewers all the way through; they should just sit firmly and securely. Place the apples in the refrigerator to cool completely. In the meantime, prepare the surface for later placement: sprinkle a little sugar on the baking sheets lined with baking paper to prevent the apples from sticking together. Next, prepare the red layer for the typical apple. To do this, mix the glucose syrup with water and sugar in a saucepan until combined. Then add the food coloring. The mixture should now simmer over medium heat for 15-20 minutes. You can check if the mixture is ready by adding a drop of cold water; if it hardens after about 7-10 seconds, it’s ready. The apples are then ready to candied. Rotate the apples through the mixture and then place them on the baking sheet with the stems facing up. Caution: If the apples touch, they will stick immediately, so it’s best to avoid this. If desired, sprinkle the apples with sugar sprinkles. Let them cool for 5 minutes, then they’re ready to eat. Consume the same day, as the coating around the apple will become sticky again after a while.
