Greek pasta casserole

Prepare the macaroni according to the package instructions (you may need to cook it a little longer than directed until the pasta is very soft). Finely chop the onion and then fry it in a little olive oil. Add the minced meat to the onion and fry it lightly. Add the tomatoes and bay leaves and season with salt and pepper. Place half of the cooked macaroni in the buttered baking dish. Sprinkle some grated cheese on top, spread the minced meat evenly over it, and arrange the remaining macaroni on top. Pour the béchamel sauce over the top and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top as the top layer. Bake in the oven at 200°C for about 1 hour.
