a hearty fruity sauce that gives grilled food a special kick, also delicious as a spread

Cut unpeeled, washed fruit into small pieces and remove stones and cores. Tip: Peel the peaches if necessary. Mix crushed garlic cloves with ginger powder and salt. Place the sugar and vinegar in a saucepan, add the garlic mixture and the remaining spices, ground or crushed in a mortar, and finally stir in the mixed fruit. Simmer the mixture over low heat for about 45 minutes, or longer if necessary, stirring occasionally. Once the fruit is cooked soft, puree the ingredients with a hand blender until the desired consistency is reached. Pour the hot mixture into jars and screw on the lids. DONE! No further sterilization is necessary. Tip: The chutney will keep indefinitely in the refrigerator even without storage. The flavor may improve with longer storage.
