Peanut sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 350 g peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp sambal oelek
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 tbsp Soy sauce (Ketjap Manis)
  • e.g. milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Originally from Indonesia, but further developed in the Netherlands

Sauté the sambal oelek in 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic cloves. Add all the remaining ingredients—except the peanut butter, ketjap manis, and milk—and sauté for another 2-3 minutes. Now add the peanut butter and reduce the heat to low; it shouldn’t be boiling (maximum 60 degrees Celsius). Mix the ingredients and peanut butter well. Now add the ketjap manis and milk to taste (also for color and liquid). The sauce should remain slightly thick. Peanut sauce goes very well with fresh baguette, but also as a sauce for egg-fried rice or noodles, with fries with mayo, or with satay.
