Pear and apple chutney

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 g pear(s), peeled, cut into pieces
  • 300 g apples, peeled, cut into pieces
  • 400 g onion(s), peeled, finely chopped
  • 250 g sugar
  • 200 ml apple cider vinegar or fruit vinegar
  • ½ red chili pepper(s), cut into very small pieces
  • Cinnamon
  • Pepper, freshly ground
  • Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Place all ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Stir frequently, especially towards the end, to prevent sticking. This can take an hour or more. Season to taste with chili, pepper, salt, and cinnamon. You can puree the mixture. I like to press the larger pieces against the edge of the pot with a wooden spoon. While hot, fill twist-off jars and seal immediately. Allow to cool upside down. Tip: You can also add grated fresh ginger to the boil. This adds a special kick. You can also adjust the amount of apples and pears.
