Pear and chocolate corners

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 sheet(s) of puff pastry, rectangular, from the refrigerated section
  • 2 small pears
  • 70 g dark chocolate
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • some powdered sugar for dusting

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 6 equal pieces. Peel and core the pears, and cut into thin wedges. Combine the sugar and orange juice in a saucepan and simmer the pears over low heat for about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool in a sieve, reserving the juice. In the meantime, chop the chocolate. Place a few cooled pear slices in the center of each puff pastry slice and sprinkle with the chopped chocolate. Mix the egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of sugar and a little of the pear juice. Brush the edges of the puff pastry with this mixture and fold the puff pastry into triangles. Press the edges firmly together. Brush the surface with the egg yolk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven, arrange on plates, and dust with powdered sugar. I always serve this with vanilla sauce or ice cream.
