Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg pear(s)
  • 125 g butter
  • ½ liter of milk
  • 1 bread roll, from the day before, soaked in milk
  • 1 egg(s)
  • Salt
  • nutmeg
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Recipe from grandmother’s time

Sauté the pears in sugared water until almost tender. Then place them in a casserole dish with the butter and bake at 175 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes. Bring the milk to a boil, whisk the soaked bread with the egg, and stir into the boiling milk. Season with salt and nutmeg. Place a pear on each plate, pour the sauce around it, and drizzle with some of the browned butter from the casserole dish. Serve with dumplings.
