Pears in Cinnamon-lime Bath
The perfect pears in cinnamon-lime bath recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1700 g Pears small – firm
- 1 liter Water
- 500 g Sugar fine
- 4 Cloves
- 1 Lime
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
- The pear is an old variety that is perfect for compote or just for preserving. Unfortunately I can’t say what the name of the strain is, but they are small and tough.
- I peeled them, quartered them and halved the quarters again. The reason for this is that if I should make a fruit cake, I already have one less job.
- So that the pear slices don’t turn brown, I put them in lime water until they are ready for further processing.
- In a large saucepan I brought 1 liter of water and 750ml of sugar to a fine boil until the sugar has dissolved in the hot water.
- Then I added the limes to the sugar water and the cloves, and 5 minutes later I poured off the pear slices and sunk them into the sugar water after they had drained. Bring it to the boil again & simmer gently for 5 minutes.
- During the simmering phase, I filled clean glasses with boiling water and preheated them. After simmering for 5 minutes, I removed the hot water from the glasses and filled them with the pear slices.
- Bring the fruit juice to temperature again, pour it over the pears up to about 1cm below the glass closure. Lid on and tightly closed.
- Place glasses upside down and leave them in this position for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes they turned again so that they are now in the correct position
- This amount is sufficient for 5 glasses, but I only filled 4 glasses. I served the rest as a fruity side dish with a delicious vanilla pudding.
- I wish you a lot of fun with this simple boiling and please do not snack too much in between, otherwise it will not be enough for the glasses.
