Tip 1: Bathe onions
The cover can be easily removed by taking a bath.
- Plan the steps as you cook, allow a few minutes for the onions.
- Simply place the tubers in a bowl of warm water. While the vegetables are soaking, you can do other things in the kitchen so you don’t waste time.
- Freshly bathed, the outer shell of the onion can be removed quickly and easily.
Tip 2: The longitudinal cut
With the longitudinal cut, you can peel onions in record time.
- First, halve the onion lengthwise.
- Using a kitchen knife, loosen the peel from the top part of the onion at one point – where the shoot would eventually appear, opposite the root base.
- The shells can now be easily pulled off downwards. The trick: The root base is not removed. He holds the onion together later when cutting. This is especially useful if you want to dice the vegetables.
Tip 3: Cut off the ends
With our third tip, pull off the peel in one piece.
- Using a sharp knife, cut off the two unusable parts at the top and bottom of the onion.
- In the next step, score the skin of the onion lengthways and lift a small piece of the skin.
- The shell can then be removed in one piece – quickly and efficiently.
