How to peel tangerines easily
Just as there are tricks for peeling oranges, there’s also a trick for removing the skin from tangerines – and it’s a clean job, too.
- Thinly slice off the top and bottom of the tangerine with a sharp knife.
- Next, cut the tangerine deeply lengthways. Don’t cut the tangerine in half, just cut it through to the skin underneath.
- Pull apart the almost halved tangerine.
- The individual pieces of fruit are now lined up in front of you and you can remove them individually.
- Since the peel is still underneath, you don’t even need a plate to enjoy the tangerine like this.
It is best to eat the white part of the tangerine as well
There is white skin on the tangerine pieces.
- Many people laboriously pluck off the skin and white threads before eating the tangerine piece.
- No need. The white skin is tasteless and non-toxic.
- On the contrary: The intermediate layer between the skin and the pieces of fruit not only contains just as many vitamins as the pieces of fruit themselves.
- The white layer also contains some secondary plant substances.
