Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 1 onion(s), diced
- 2 tbsp vinegar (table vinegar)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp Maggi
- ½ tsp, leveled pepper
- Salt
- 100 ml water, hot
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes
with Thuringian Mett or Kesselfleisch
Peel and dice the onions. Add vinegar, sugar, a pinch of salt, about 1/2 level teaspoon of pepper, and Maggi to the hot water. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the diced onions and stir. Let the mixture simmer for about 2 hours. Then season to taste. These onions go well with fresh bread with Kesselfleisch (roasted pork) or on a roll or bread with Thuringian Mett (a kind of meat).
