Pita bread with oregano

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 300 g flour
  • 150 ml carbonated mineral water
  • 50 g oregano
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • some olive oil
  • some oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 7 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 17 minutes

makes about 6 pita breads

Mix the flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add the oregano and salt. Gradually add the mineral water. It’s important to use carbonated water here so the pita is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Mix everything together to form a dough; I use my hands for this. When the dough has a uniform consistency, add a little more olive oil and continue kneading. Let the dough stand for about 20-30 minutes or prepare it straight away. Shape the dough into thin, round slices. I made about 6 pita loaves. Heat plenty of oil in a pan and fry the pita until golden brown on both sides. When I take it out, I like to place it on a piece of kitchen paper to drain the oil. They can now be served warm or cold. They go well with tzatziki or feta cream.
