pizza butter

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 small onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 125 g butter
  • 1 tsp pizza seasoning
  • 1 large carrot(s)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 dashes lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

First, chop the onion and garlic as finely as possible. Then, sauté them in a small saucepan with a small knob of butter for 3-4 minutes. During this time, peel and grate the carrot. It’s best to use a fine grater so the pieces aren’t too big in the butter later. Add the carrot, tomato paste, and pizza seasoning to the pan and stir everything until smooth. Remove the pan from the heat and add the remaining butter. The contents of the pan should still be hot enough to melt the butter while stirring. Finally, stir in a squeeze of lemon juice and a little milk or cream to make the spread even creamier. Transfer everything to a bowl, let it cool, and refrigerate to set. The pizza butter tastes great as a spread on bread or can also be used as a seasoning in cooking. We also like it for dipping with crackers.
