Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 20 g butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • 1 kg plum(s) (prunes)
  • e.g. sugar (sugar cubes)
  • 60 g butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions

Working time approx. 55 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Wash 1 kilo of plums, remove the stones (but do not cut them in half), and replace each with a sugar cube. Mix together the flour, egg yolk, 20g butter, and a pinch of salt. Add enough milk (up to 1/4 liter) to form a smooth dough. Break the dough up with a wooden spoon and scoop out small portions with a tablespoon. Then cover each plum individually in the dough and shape into a dumpling. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then simmer the plum dumplings for 10-15 minutes over low heat. Then melt 60g butter in a pan. Remove the dumplings from the water with a slotted spoon. Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Pour the melted butter over the dumplings and serve sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
