- 1 kg plums or prunes, pitted
- e.g. sugar cubes
- n. B. red wine

You need jars with twist-off lids that are as even as possible. Rinse the jars with hot water, then place the lids in boiling water for 5 minutes. Cut the plums in half and remove the stones. Add one or two sugar cubes, depending on the size of the fruit. Layer the fruit in the jars up to about 2-3 cm below the rim. Fill with red wine until the fruit is well covered. Do not fill to the brim, as the liquid expands during boiling. Close the jars, place them in a saucepan, and fill with cold water up to about one and a half fingers below the lids. Slowly bring the water to a boil over low heat. Then reduce the heat so that it simmers gently and does not boil over the lids. Simmer for 20-30 minutes.
