Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 140 g milk (whole milk)
- 1 vanilla pod(s)
- 80 g poppy seeds, ground
- 2 egg yolks
- 100 g sugar
- 50 g honey
- 300 g cream, whipped
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 6 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 7 hours
Heat half of the milk with the vanilla pod. Scrape out the seeds and add them to the milk along with the poppy seeds. Let them simmer for 1-2 minutes over medium heat. Whisk the egg yolks and sugar in a double boiler until frothy. Bring the honey to a boil in the remaining milk and dissolve it. Stir into the egg yolk mixture. Stir everything in the hot water until the mixture thickens slightly. Stir the poppy seeds into the mixture and let it cool. Finally, carefully stir in the whipped cream. If you have an ice cream maker, the ice cream will be ready in 30 minutes. Freeze for 4-6 hours.
