Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes
simple casserole with potatoes, raw ham, peppers, onions and cheese
Boil the potatoes with their skins on, then peel and dice them. While the potatoes are cooking, bring the sour cream, cream cheese, and a little milk to a boil in a saucepan. If the sauce isn’t quite thin enough, add a little more milk. Then add the finely diced garlic and season with salt, pepper, marjoram, paprika, and a little chili powder. If desired, you can round off the sauce with a small splash of cognac. Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan oven). Dice the bell pepper and halve the onion and cut into strips. Mix both ingredients with the diced ham and the potato cubes and spread them in a greased baking dish. Other vegetables such as corn, zucchini, leeks, etc. also go well with the sauce. Cover with the sauce and bake at 180°C for about 60 minutes. About 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time, sprinkle with the grated cheese and bake until golden brown.
