Potato goulash

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg goulash, mixed pork and beef
  • 1 kg potatoes, floury
  • 3 onions
  • 3 tsp paprika powder, sweet
  • 3 tsp paprika powder, hot
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 30 g lard
  • 1 liter of water or meat broth
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Heat lard in a roasting pan or ovenproof pot, sear the goulash, then remove. Sauté the onions, return the goulash to the pot, and add seasoning. Add the potatoes, cut into pieces (the same size as the goulash), to the pot. Add water or meat broth until the goulash and potatoes are almost covered. Braise in the oven at 200°C for about 90 minutes (the longer the better). Stir occasionally and check the liquid (either remove the lid or add more broth) and season if necessary. Serve potato goulash in deep plates and (partially) mash the potatoes.
