quick and easy
Bring lightly salted water to a boil. Meanwhile, peel the potatoes and slice them thinly. Finely dice the garlic and cut the bacon into 1-2 cm wide strips. Once the water boils, add the potatoes and cook for 8-10 minutes, until almost cooked. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). While the potatoes are cooking, fry the bacon in a pan. When the bacon is almost cooked, add the garlic and fry briefly, stirring occasionally. Drain the potato water and grease a baking dish with butter. In a bowl, mix the milk, cream, bacon, and garlic, adding the bacon fat from the pan. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Place the potatoes in the baking dish and pour the sauce over them. Drop dollops of sour cream on top of the casserole and sprinkle with cheese. Place the gratin in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is lightly browned on top.
