Waffles with a twist – makes about 10 waffles

First, boil the potatoes until soft (or use day-old potatoes), peel them, and mash them. Finely chop the onions and mix them with the mashed potatoes. Stir the eggs and milk into the potato mixture, preferably with a hand mixer. Mix the baking powder with the flour and stir into the batter along with the salt and nutmeg. Preheat the waffle iron, grease it with a little butter, and pour 2 tablespoons of batter onto the iron. Bake the waffles in batches until light brown until the batter is used up. Serve with herb quark, for example.
