Potatoes in tomato sauce (Patates Yahni)

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 750 g potatoes
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 3 tomatoes
  • ¼ cup oil (rapeseed oil)
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and quartered
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Peel and wash the potatoes and cut them into slightly larger quarters. Heat the oil in a saucepan and brown the onion. Then add the peeled and diced tomatoes, garlic, salt, pepper, potatoes, and 1 1/2 cups of water. Simmer until the potatoes are tender. Stir occasionally. The sauce should thicken slightly; if the potatoes aren’t yet tender, simply add a little more water. Delicious hot or cold!
