Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potato(s), floury
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tbsp margarine
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • ½ liter of water

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices. Peel and roughly chop the onions. Add the margarine to a non-stick pan. Sauté the diced onions until golden brown. Then add the potato slices and season with salt and pepper. Deglaze with about 0.5 liters of water (it’s better to add a little less water at the beginning, as you want the liquid to evaporate by the end. If the water evaporates quickly, carefully add a little more water). Cover and simmer for about half an hour over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Serve with either pickled sweet and sour pumpkin or—for those with a savory taste—a sausage salad.
