Ingredients for 12 servings:

  • 500 g cornstarch (wheat flour)
  • 500 g powdered sugar
  • 500 g butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp rum or arrack
  • 6 eggs
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Old Berlin sponge cake

Beat the butter until fluffy, gradually beat in the eggs, then mix with the salt, rum, wheat flour, and powdered sugar until smooth. Pour the batter into a well-greased earthenware or king cake pan. Bake at 160°C for about 1 hour. Dust the finished cake with powdered sugar.
