Pretzel sticks

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g wheat flour
  • 1 cube of fresh yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 350 ml water, lukewarm
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 shot of oil
  • 2 liters of water
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • Hail salt (pretzel salt) for sprinkling

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Place the flour in a bowl. Mix the yeast with the sugar until liquid and add to the flour. Add warm water, salt, and a dash of oil to the flour and knead into a dough. For the caustic soda, bring the baking soda and water to a boil in a large saucepan. Form the sticks and cook them in the caustic soda for 30 seconds. Then sprinkle the sticks with pretzel salt and bake at 210°C (top/bottom heat) for about 15-20 minutes.
