Quark peaks

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g low-fat curd cheese
  • 500 g flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 150 g sugar
  • 150 g margarine
  • Oil (sunflower oil)
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour

like my mom and grandma made

Mix the first 5 ingredients together until a tough dough forms. In the meantime, heat 1 liter of sunflower oil in a saucepan. It’s hot enough when a wooden spoon dipped in the oil bubbles. Feel free to turn the heat down a bit. Using a small spoon, scoop out a little of the batter and drop it into the pan with your finger (don’t put your finger in – it’s very hot!). Turn the quark nibs occasionally. When they’re golden brown, scoop them out with a slotted spoon and place them in a bowl. Repeat with the rest until you’ve used up all the batter. Dust the finished quark nibs with icing sugar. They taste best fresh, but they’re still delicious the next day (should you have any leftovers).
